This was posted on my Australian sister's Facebook page today. I know many of us suffer more or less at times with Depression, myself included. Not long ago it was a word hardly mentioned. Let's hope today there are so many more enlightened and sympathetic people in the world.

I struggle with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is a depressive disorder that strikes in the winter months. It is brought about because, due to the diminished hours of sunlight, the brain doesn't receive the amount of light it needs. It is a very real and agonizing disorder, which affects a person mentally, emotionally, and physically. It is not something you can just "snap out of"...but you wouldn't believe how many people tell me to "get over it." You wouldn't tell a person with cancer to just get over it, so why do we think people with depression can just get over it.
On that note, we once were part of a church where they taught from the pulpit that there is no such thing as mental illness, that it's just sin in the life of a believer. Several people in the church tried to go off their meds as a result of that teaching...with disastrous results. Of course, we were completely unsettled with that teaching (which was ongoing for several months), so we eventually left that church.

hi Hun as you know I too suffer from this and the worst thing is feeling alone,and isolated with no one who understands like your call today,that meant the world to me just having a friendly voice on the end of the phone,it went from tears to laughter,.

I have depressions,for many years.
Take medication,but somethimes, it's not enough.My hobbies help me a lot.
It helps to keep my mind busy(I don't know, if I'm writing in the correct words).I have always been open about my depression.Told the things,as they were.Thank you,for posting this. Big hug,
