.......Maid Mona

It's a gorgeous morning here (Friday my time!) Brilliant blue sky and wall to wall sunshine for a change. Makes you feel glad to be alive and thankful for your blessings!

Today I'm showing another picture of the lovely Mona Lisa. Of all the Monas that I've altered and played with, I think this one is my very favourite. I am so pleased with the way she turned out.

It looks like being a hot one again today. It was so humid yesterday, and Richard came to do the garden, cutting hedges etc. He looked so hot, bless him, and the dust from the hedges stuck to his damp skin .
I went up on my scooter to see his new bedroom he had just finished decorating. One wall is full of a mirrored wardrobe that doubles the size of the room. Everything looked beautifully coordinated, down to a black chandalier! The thought of a black one wouldn't have been my idea but it looked very nice. Becky had chosen well!

I called in on Sally on my way back. She had the children after school and they had been to the beach. There they were, running about happy and dirty, all ready for their bath, arguing as to who should be first.

I love old photos and I've found a couple for you to see today. The top one  is me in the garden holding my granddaughter Rebecca. She is now 31!!
The black and white one is me and Colin at a dance, about 1960. Those were the days eh? When I actually had a half decent figure!!LOL!!

At the top is front and back of a little book she has made, complete with pockets and tags inside.

And at the bottom is a piece of chipboard decorated with all these lovely pieces.

Absolutely beautiful work. Also a gorgeous card and a large spotted hand made box envelope that they were in.

 She said they were for a belated birthday present!

Dear Cheryl, thank you sooooo much. You just can't imagine how much pleasure they give me. You've put such a load of time and talent into these gorgeous pieces.

CO Challenge..Yellow..

Take a Word Challenge..Insects..

 The challenge over at Take a Word this week is Insects.

I chose to make this pattern of moths and roses.

It takes a little while to place the components, get their sizes right etc. but the finished

product looks great with a black background.

I call this a 'disciplined' creation. LOL!!

Then I 'pressed a button' in one of my software  programmes and

it turned into this pattern.

You still see the frame and the moths and roses, kinda cute eh?

I made this collage yesterday, my own background made by merging a couple of my own backgrounds and recolouring it. The picture of the woman found on Google and the rest from my collection.

The bottom pic has the addition of a bit of processing. It does change the look and I quite like it.

I haven't felt like joining in the Sunday Postcard Art challenge this last couple of weeks.

 The Jewel

Good Saturday morning all, I'm fed up with this blessed wind! It gets into my spine and gives me more pain. I do have to go to the post office today and I hate the wind! Upwards and Onwards!

The background of this picture was a pattern I made from one of my own collages with the lady's face added in the middle. It reminded me of coloured jewels. I hope you like it.

........Different Styles

                                               The Silver Mask and the Raven

As you know I create all sorts of art. These two pieces are so different but both gave me happiness as they were created.I make quite a lot of Challenges that sometimes stretch my mind! LOL! They may take me to a new dimension. I love the Flickr site. There are so many talented artists out there and some of the work is mindblowing. But I often see a piece that triggers something in my head and off I go in a new direction, maybe to try something new. I just wish I had half the imagination of some of my friends.

I'm sorry I can't get into physical art these days and get stuck up with glue and gesso and paint. I used to love that. So I wish you all a very happy day and happy crafting. I just hope my pictures give you all a tiny bit of pleasure.

...........The Longest Day

It's three years today since I lost my Mum.

She had 93 years on this earth. Went through a war, many trials and

tribulations but always came back smiling.

So many memories, some sad but mostly happy.

I can't write any more.

.......Magic

I think sometimes we are apt to forget that there's magic all around us. Not always the sort of magic in my picture! I like to look for a piece of magic every day, whether  it's an unexpected phone call, the sun shining suddenly to light up a flower.or the brilliant plumage of a pheasant crossing the road in  front of you. If I visit my friend Helen there's the joy of watching the antics of the squirrels outside her kitchen window.

Good morning everyone! Thank you for all your birthday greetings yesterday. For those of you who are puzzled, my birthday IS the 15th. but because of the time difference it appeared here on the 14th! I think even my sister got in a muddle, she put my age (undisclosed) on the card and took a year off!! LOL! I had loads of cards, ecards, and greetings on Facebook (which I hardly use).

Stanley and Jenny took me to a new place opened only 11 weeks ago. A converted barn with lovely gifts and pictures arranged all around. The food was beautiful. I thought I'd have a glass of cider to drink for a change and it came in my own bottle, almost as big as a wine bottle. Then we realised the alcohol content was 14 percent!!! My Gosh, I knew I'd had it!! But I stayed on my feet! LOL!
Freddie had his hospital appointment yesterday but he got on OK!

Now tomorrow we are both going to Sally's for a meal and all the rest of the family will be there so it will be a party!

Three Muses Challenge..Out of Bounds..

Magic Summer Night

As he lay in the soft grass, half awake, half asleep, a nightingale began his sweet song. He felt as if he was floating......floating....... he had no notion of time. He opened his eyes.... and everything merged into a mist of blues and greens. And then he saw her.........this vision in white. So beautiful, yet she seemd to merge with the trees. She faded......and then he saw her again. Was he dreaming?
He stretched up his arms towards her.....he wanted to hold her. And then she was gone.
Was this his Midsummer Night's Dream..............?

The Wish Granters

My picture today is The Wish Granters. Be careful what you wish for...is good advice. The wish may not turn our exactly as you wanted, it's true!
 Sometimes I love to use Symmetry in my work. I love the calmness, the balance of things, what do you think?

What's happened to 'Flaming June'? Are we ever going to get any Summer? I have a Garden Party  planned for the beginning of next month so I'm keeping everything crossed. It's for the Chapel and I have several helpers standing by. I have bought some colourful bunting and lavender plates and serviettes. Richard has planted several new things in the garden so it should look nice. He keeps it beautifully.
I just pray it doesn't rain that day!!

A Daisy a Day..

Well dear friends, I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I've had a devil of a job trying to sort everything out. I have spent hours here yesterday. All my address book has disappeared, never to return so I cannot contact any friends at all. My incoming mail goes in my Bin folder and it's a real pain as I keep losing messages. Everything on this computer seems to have changed and I can hardly find anything. If anyone can help about the mail; going into the Bin folder I would be extremely grateful.

After all that the good news is Freddie came home yesterday and the Angioplasty seems to have gone well. So we are looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Hello dear friends!

I made from a gorgeous flower picture. I love how they turned out.

Well Freddie went off at 6.30am. to hospital. He is to have another Angioplasty and fingers crossed, should only have to stay in the one night. So I shall ring up later to see how he's doing.

He is so fed up with all the to-ing and fro-ing to hospital. He has another two visits next week.

My head seems to be always in a spin, sorting out appointments, cars and medication, I don't have much time to think about myself. perhaps that's a good thing, eh?

I've been to Chapel this morning, acting as Chauffeuse.

Take a Word Challenge..Weddings..

Weddings! A lovely challenge this week on Take a Word! Out of all the many vintage wedding pics I could have chosen, I have picked a Family wedding. My Great Aunt, my grandmother's sister. Although she was not married in white, she had a beautiful bouquet. Her sister Hetty sits at the front right and my Great Grandfather, James Mallett stands at the back right. Sadly I have no pictures of my Mum's or my Grandmother's weddings.

Your Wish

After such a glorious day yesterday, today it looks as if rain might be stopping play. Such a shame after all the preparations. I went out on the scooter yesterday afternoon and had a wonderful time, finishing up on the Quay, watching the flotilla of boats come in with the tide, all bedecked with Union flags, bunting, horns blowing and people clapping and cheering. I have never seen so many people on the quay side. I hope you all have a wonderful day, whatever you are doing!  Hugs xxx
