Here is my 'Newsprint' challenge for the Three Muses this week.
Background newspaper Googled, also the three little Newsboys.
They are from a painting by John George Brown.
Thank you for looking. xx

Kaleidoscopes for you..

Here are a couple of Kaleidoscopes I've made from some of my own pictures.
if they are any good for your backgrounds or a shaded layer, you
are very welcome to take them.

Seems like yesterday..

I found the portrait of this gorgeous lady and made this
collage, adding elements from my collections. I hope  you like it. xx

In Tandem..Lost..

Jinksy had two pictures on her blog today for her challenge.
As I don't feel like such bright colours at the moment
I chose her own painting.
Added a couple of layers to make (I hope)
a misty dawn.
Just click on the header title for link.
Thanks for looking.xx

Nellie the Elephant..

Nellie the elephant packed her trunk and trundled off to the circus,
And off she went etc. etc.

Just for fun, another litle 'stepping out' picture.

* * * * *

I went to see Freddie last night and he's looking pretty perky.
He was dehydrated through having no fluids waiting to go for the op. so was drinking plenty of squash. His pacemaker was fine but his heart rate was up a bit but I think it's
settled today. He was awake during the op having had an Epidural.
He is still on morphine today but I guess that'll be weaned off.
So hopefully, everything will be OK if they've caught all the infection.

I'm now off to the dentist as I had a crown fall out the other day.

Thank you all for your kind messages which
I've relayed to him. xx

In Tandem Blog..

Jinksy makes a lovely picture every week and writes a beautiful poem to go with. This weeks poem and picture are Shadowy leaves. Well I can't write poetry, I'm not even going to try but I love to play with pictures. Her shadowy leaves reminded me of fish so here's a collage I made just for fun. It's called....

I'M GONNA TELL YOU ALL A STORY....

                                                         Forgive me dear Jinksy!

Snips and Snails and Puppy dog's Tails....

First of all I have news of Freddie. You know he's been in hospital again since Friday, well last night he had two toes amputated. They took him down at 8.30pm. and he was back on the ward at 11.15pm.
I spoke to the Sister at 3am. and he was awake and had eaten something. Waiting all day he must have been hungry.
I was so surprised when he rang me himself at 7am. this morning. He's in a room by himself, he sounded cheerful but sore. SIL John is taking me up to see him tonight. Thank the Lord that's over, now we pray for a speedy recovery.

Now for the piccies..... My son came over yesterday and we had a meal with Sally and John and he took photos of the new puppies, now 14 weeks old. The only time you can get a decent photo is when they are asleep as they race around like little whirlwinds. On your lap as quick as a blink and trying to remove either my earrings or necklace. They are so beautiful but a handful until they are fully trained.

Talk about a Dog's Life!

Now here's Mr. Jake.
He owns my son Stanley and Jenny his wife.
As you can see he can wrap them around his little paws!

Have a wonderful day everyone.
Sending love and hugs

Take a Word Challenge.. Time..

This weeks challenge on Take a Word is Time. I find it can be quite an emotive subject.
I have  two collages this week. The first I made a while ago but thought it deserved another airing.
The second again notes how quickly time passes with us all.
Sherry gave a wonderful example this week.
Thanks for looking.xx

SoArtful Challenge..Bathing Beauties..

I've just made this for SoArtful's Saturday Challenge this week.

How about the old bathing suits?
I don't think they ever got wet!
Thanks for looking. xx

Three, Two, One..

Here's the Three.
I made a Kaleidoscope from one of my own pictures and
I thought it made a pretty frame for the vintage children.

Here's the Two.
This is some alteration and manipulation of part of a
Waterhouse painting for a challenge on Digitalmania
on Flickr.
You can view some of my 'alterations' on my Flickr site,
Button at the top of my sidebar.
You are very welcome to look.

And here's the One!
Just a little cutie 'Stepping Out'.

I kept myself busy yesterday to try and stop my mind worrying.
It didn't really work but I made a couple of pictures.
So there's just me and Corey for the Bank Holiday weekend.
I won't be going far and the weather looks decidedly wet.
I feel sorry for the holidaymakers with their children

So I hope you enjoy my pictures.
Love and Hugs

Update..

Just a quick update on Freddie....He went to hospital this morning for his fortnightly check up and they kept him in again.......

They think the infection has spread from one toe to the next so possibly he'll have two toes removed.
I think they should have done this last time he was in. I am feeling fearful for the outcome......

Little Treasures

The other day on her blog Cindy was  prettying things up and she talked about an old key. I told her I had a brass key that my Granddad made.  It is the key to the house where I was born, now long gone.
He probably made it when he and my Nannie first moved into that little house, many years before.

I also had a brass money box he had made out of a WW1 Shell casing, made to hold half crowns, in the days long before decimal. I have used it to hold 50p pieces and now it holds two pound coins. You can't get to your money in a hurry. There is quite a knack to getting the coins out with a knife. I can remember him showing me this as a child....... These are special to me.

I shall show you some pics, there is also a brass tray I fell in love with 30 years ago in an Antiqu shop. It's probably foreign and more than 100 years old. There's also a small icon with a tiny brass plate on the front showing the Virgin Mary. There's quite a story to this as you can see on the picture.

Do you have some tiny treasures that hold special memories for you?

Three Muses Challenge..Windows..

These are my takes on the Window theme posted by the Three Muses.
The top one has a bit of mystery and in the one below I loved the children,
so thought they could sit on a window seat and listen to Mama
read them a story.
Most images Googled, a few bits added from my collections.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and I really appreciate
your comments.

Collage Obsession Challenge.Roots..

I almost didn't post this, I thought it was too dark
but anyway here it is.
Collage Obsession's challenge this week was Roots.
So many different ways to interpret this but I thought
her hair roots looked good.
All images Googled, altered and layered etc,

Romeo and Juliet

A trip to Verona today.
Romeo and Juliet I extracted from an Old Master painting
and given them a completely new background made from a couple of photographs.
I've even included the lovely Juliet's balcony.
All of the images were Googled.

I so enjoy finding an Old Master painting and giving it a new life
Some are so dark I think they enjoy being brightened up!

Thanks for visitting and I hope you enjoy.

Something different today..

Something different for you today.
I found this lovely lady with the extraordinary head dress
in a painting by James Christensen.
I extracted her and while I was working my mind was telling me
her story.
So here it is...
The Story of Princess Ramona.

Please let me know your thoughts too......

Take a Word Challenge..Old Fashioned..

Here is my picture for the Old Fashioned Challenge at
Take a Word.
I love the idea of them stepping out of the picture frame.
The main image I painted with my mouse in Photoshop.
It was a B/W freebie from somewhere. I've had so long I can't remember.

Thanks for stopping by. xx

Doreen Baxter..

I came across this picture. It is from the cover of a book of
Grimm's Fairy Tales, illustrated by
Doreen Baxter.
To me this is the very epitome of fairy, magical  pictures.
I wish I could draw and paint like this.. She illustrated another Fairytale book but the picture I found was too small to reproduce. This book was published in the 50's. I've tried to find out a bit more about her. She is/was English and that's about all I know. I do know a very few copies of her books are being sold on ebay and in some collector book shops at very expensive prices!

I find it sad that such a beautiful illustrator as Doreen is not remembered more.
If anyone has any more info, I'd be very glad to hear it.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Sunday Postcard Art..Da Vinci..

Tomorrow at SPA the theme for a postcard is
Da Vinci.
Here is the card I made.
Thanks for looking  .xx

SoArtful Challenge..

Jeanette at SoArtful has given this black and white photo
of a Russian lady-in-waiting to use this week.
Mary, Princess Eristavi.
I have found a copy in colour of that original beautiful dress!
So I took off her head and placed it on the model and
gave it a touch of colour and I think
she looks so much better, don't you?

I have also made this one and it looks like
almost the same staircase.

Thanks for looking.xx

Feed the Birds..

Feed the Birds.
Bit of a Fairy Story going on here.
Found the main image and built up around her.

Things are getting pretty hectic. For instance today.....
the groceries are coming, lunch is coming and the nurse should be coming.
Let's hope they don't all come at once!
And prescriptions to collect.

Poor Freddie waited all day yesterday and the nurse didn't show.
They are usually so reliable, so phone calls this morning.

I am so thankful for all your wonderful comments and visits
to my blog. Forgive me if I don't leave you comments. I love to
visit all your blogs but there are still lots I cannot leave
comments on. Sorry.......

My collage is titled....Captured.......

Hello dear Helen,

I have found your blog but unfortunately it is one I cannot leave a comment on.
I couldn't see an email address either or I would have written directly to you.
Please send me an e with your address. I'd love to be in touch.

More Fun at the Fair..

Yesterday Richard and Becky took the children to Cromer Carnival
and had a lovely time again. They fell in love with the
beautiful Newfoundland who was harnessed to the little cart!

Freddie is the Birthday Boy today!
All the family and the children came down to see him late
yesterday afternoon as they are all working today and
brought him cards and pressies.
Happy Birthday sweetheart! xx

Three Muses Challenge..Hats..

I found this wonderful background of hats and had to use it, altered a bit!
Hope you can see it. So I just added the lady in a big, big hat!

Different styles..

                                                                   Come fly with me

                                                                        Suzy

Showing you a couple of my latest collages. I do like to experiment a bit and try something new.
The top picture is in my favourite vintage colours and style. Come fly with me, let yourself float and fly away. Couldn't you shut your eyes and dream of this......?

Suzy is a photo I found and played with again with filters and layers. I quite liked the finished result.

                                                         Have a great day! xx

Happy Family..

Here is my lovely grandson Richard with his super wife Becky
and their children Ashton and Skyela.
They were having all the fun of the fair, Ashton and Skyela
riding in  a very pink teacup, which matches the cast on her arm.
The top pics, having lovely cuddles.
Becky is a wonderful Mum and adores her
husband and children.
They are wonderful parents and I'm so proud of them.
(I grab the pics from her Facebook site!!)

Take a Word..Celestial..

The theme word today is Celestial and here is my collage.
It can mean so many things but today I have gone a bit magical
with Unicorns. I think most people are fascinated with these
mythical and beautiful animals.
Thanks very much for looking.xx

Good morning everyone!
To start a new week I've had a little play and made a new Header
and also a collage for my dear  friend Cindy.
She posted some pictures on her blog
and I couldn't resist.
Pay her a visit. She has the most wonderful blog!

And as it is Sunday, I have found this prayer for you.....

Lord, grant me I pray......
Courage when the best things fail me,
Calm and poise when storms assail me,
Common sense when things perplex me,
A  sense of humour when they vex me,
Hope when disappointments damp me,
Wider vision when life cramps me,
Kindness when folk need it badly,
Readiness to help them gladly,
And when effort seems in vain....
Wisdom to begin again!

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful day,
With Love,

June xxxxxx

Sunday Postcard Art..Oriental..

I have posted early for the SPA Challenge this week. The theme is Oriental.
I love Oriental figurines. I have a large collection of Buddhas and I nearly used one of those. Instead I chose this found image of a Japanese Geisha. She has such a beautiful expression. The background is my own, made from my first fractal. I thought it too looked kind of Oriental. The symbols are for Reiki, which to me mean Healing, Peace and Love. Thank you for looking and I wish you all a beautiful Sunday.xx

Helena..

I called this collage Helena. I don't know her
real name so I've rechristened her.
I wanted to try and turn this vintage photo into an oil painting.
Perhaps if you enlarge her you may see the texture.
The lovely old frame is by Christina Renee.
