Edith Cavell

Edith Cavell was an accomplished woman, a talented artist, linguist and teacher; yet it was not until her father became ill that she discovered her true vocation....nursing.
Sadly it was this desire to save lives that led to her death, for while running a training school for nurses in Belgium during the Great war she was sentenced to death for aiding Allied soldiers to escape.
Yet she did not regret her impulse to help her fellow men.
'Patriotism is not enough. I have no hatred  or bitterness towards anyone,' she said just before her execution.
If only that way of thinking was a little more widespread then we might, indeed, in ther words of the song...''heal the world.''

Challenge

The two beautiful children was the image supplied for the Collage Obsessions Challenge this week.
'Siblings.'
I cut them out and put them in a field of flowers to play with their little dog.
They are getting ready to run and chase the hoop.

June again

Here we are at June 1st. again. The year seems to have flown by as it especially seems to do as I get older. This last few days the weather has been really grotty but I'm hoping for some June sunshine soon.

Our Journey.

This is the journey and this is the road,
Helping each other and sharing the load,
Walking together and seeking the way,
Sharing the wonder and seizing each day.

Making discoveries, lessons to learn,
New explanations as seasons return,
Finding a way to forget and forgive,
Counting our blessings and learning to live.

This is the journey and now is the time,
New paths to follow and mountains to climb,
Travelling onward, enjoying each mile,
Rejoice in the moment, the journey's worthwhile.
