The Orchid..

This particular orchid of mine has begun to drop its flowers so I took this photo last night and made this digital collage this morning. It's been a joy on the kitchen windowsill I can see as I wash up.
I have many more images on my Flickr site if you have time to visit. Just click on the rose in the box on my sidebar and Thank You for looking today. xx

Just a smile.....

Where there's smoke, there's toast!

Punctuality is something that, if you have it,
there's usually no one around to share it with!

Friday Foto Collage..St. Brigid..

Over at Friday Foto Collage, Peggy gave us this challenge, make a collage with St. Brigid. She did give us some images but I chose this one on Google, a stained glass window. I put St. Brigid's cross at the bottom. It's interesting to read about the lives of saints and St. Brigid of Ireland is certainly no exception.
Thank you for looking. xxx

TAW .. REGAL..

The Regal Trio

The Fairy Flower Queen

I think they look regal enough for the challenge on Take a Word.
The top one digitally manipulated, all images Googled.
The bottom one, lady and crown found, the rest from my collection.
Looking forward to seeing others today. Thank you for looking.

SoArtful Challenge..Georgia O'Keeffe

The challenge on SoArtful this week was to make a collage of/about Georgia O'Keeffe. I admit I had never heard of this very prolific American artist, 1887 -1986. I believe she was well before her time, keeping true to her vision. She painted landscapes and flowers, finding abstract forms in nature.
My collage takes one of her paintings for the background, layered with Sherry's rose and a portrait of the lady herself.

Thank you for the rose Sherry, I hope you don't mind! xx
Thank you for looking and have a happy Sunday. xxx

Digitalmania Challenge..

I take part in a few challenges over at Flickr. One of my favourites is Digitalmania. Started up by Marie of the Three Muses team it is a fun challenge.
This week we are asked to make a Zetti type image depicting a song or song title. I don't know if you are old enough to remember these two old songs but these are my efforts.

* * * * * * *
January can be a depressing month for lots of people. The Christmas festivities seem so long ago, the days are often dark, wet and short and quite miserable when we don't see the sun for days. I have a very dear friend who is feeling just like that. It's not usual for her to be this way. She is usually cheering me up! But she's got family problems going on as well, which adds to the worry.

I'm glad we have Spring to look forward to! Coming home the other day I see I have snowdrops out in the garden and I shall soon see crocus and miniature daffodils poking their heads out!
And best of all we have the blessing of friends. What would we do without them?

'So long as we are loved by others I should say that we are almost indispensable; and no man is useless while he has a friend.'
Robert Louis Stevenson.

'A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere. Before him I may think aloud.'
Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Thank you all for being my friends.

Just Playing again..

I found this picture on Google and played around with things from my collection, adding layers etc. I couldn't think of a title but I loved the look of innocence on his face. Does it suggest a title to you?

This was anothe face I found on Google and played with. Elements from my collection.
I called this 'Now you see it.' I love wasting time!!

Dezinaworld Images..

Here are two collages I designed for June on Dezinaworld, using a couple of images from the sheets she is showing on her blog today. Beautiful vintage images of children and women you'll love. They can be used in all sorts of ways, you can print them off, cut out and decoupage them, or paste and layer up for a beautiful card, book cover or even cover a box!

Do pop over to have a look, especially as she is now offering her sheets for free, you only need to email her. You can also see what some of her other designers have made.
There is a big button on my sidebar that will take you directly to her site.

Playing again..

This angel I found in a picture of a stained glass window. I played around trying to put it on an old piece of parchment as if it was an ancient drawing.

I am so glad yesterday is gone. Funerals over and I went to the dentist as well. I had a crown fall out twice in a month. I had it replaced after the first time and it came out again.
It turns out I have a fractured root after an X Ray and will have to have it removed in hospital in a few weeks. I am again on anti biotics so that's probably the reason I have been feeling under par. I cannot really remember what it feels like to feel really well as I have so many problems so this is just another one. Ho Hum! Upwards and Onwards........!!

Playing....

I found this image of the lovely lady on Google and played around with textures and layers.
I was happy with the result and she seems to have aroused a lot of interest on Flickr!

Ooo la la! 3M Challenge

This weeks Challenge at Three Muses asks for a French Theme. Ooo la la! So here is my collage.
Mostly bits and pieces from my collection. The can-can lady I have had for ever and have used her lots of times as she is a favourite.
Thank you for looking. xxx

Metallic Fever..Gothic Arch Challenge..

With a subject like metallic, what else could I do but make it Steampunk?
This is my entry for this weeks Gothic Art Challenge. Hope you like it.

A dull day today, no sunshine like yesterday but promise of a little rain later. Another funeral this afternoon but this time in our glorious St. Nicholas Church. Unlike yesterday where there was a relatively small gathering, I expect today to there being a packed church as she was well known and loved in our village.
And this morning a trip to the dentist....Ughh!

Elephant Challenge..Collage Obsession..

The tiny dancer helped Nellie dress for the Ball. But unfortunately, the glass slippers didn't fit.
I think she borrowed them from Cindarella!
Thank you for looking.xx

We have just come home from the funeral. Fortunately it didn't rain and the sun shone. My
navigator actually earned some Brownie Points as he found a shorter way. However the narrow country roads were like switchbacks with tree roots. My poor little car must have wondered what had hit it!

During the last hymn, a burst of sunlight came through a side window and sent a beam of shimmering light to dance upon the deep red roses on the coffin. They absolutely lit up.
A touch of magic on a sad day........

MOOS!

Well I'd never heard of Moos, only the noise a cow makes! However Take a Word have given us the challenge to make a Moo or two!
My top one is very plain but I think the bottom one is quite pretty..What do you think?
Thanks for looking. xx

She brightens my day!..

Richard had taken Ashton to watch Norwich City play Chelsea (score 1-1, well done Norwich!)
so Sally was looking after Skyela. They came down to see us and I took this photo yesterday.
This child brightens the dullest day! Her smile and chatter are a joy and she certainly lifts my spirits. Bless her sweet heart!

Friday Foto Collage..

Above is the picture given for the Challenge, painted by Peggy and at the top is my finished collage.

SPA.. Dragons..

As it is the Year of the Dragon, Sunday Postcard Art has chosen the Dragon as their challenge this week. So here is my Postcard.
Thanks for looking.xx

Yesterday I took Freddie with me in the car as Guide to find the church where this funeral is being held on Monday. Some Guide he is!! I finished up doing a round trip on dirty, muddy roads of some 40 odd miles. Lord know how many churches we passed on this trip, and I was so glad to get home. The church I found and has hardly any access, only a muddy path. and nowhere to park. It's tucked away behind some pretty cottages and can barely be seen from the road. So I must give myself plenty of time on Monday. Norfolk is full of churches and I am looking foward to seeing it inside though not much else!

Believe and Dream..

Just a bit of whimsy. A collage I made the other day. I was looking through some old photos as I often do, and came across this black and white picture of my son. I coloured it in Photoshop and made this. He was raised with music, stories, truth, trust and love. A wonderful man who will be retiring in a couple of weeks time. I hope you enjoy the picture.

Does life sometimes seem too complicated for you these days? I know we all agree how much new technology can achieve, but things can often appear rather confusing and involved.
Sir Winston Churchill once summed it up this way: 'All the great things are simple and many can be expressed in a single word......Freedom..Justice..Honour..Duty..Mercy and Hope.'
He was right. These are important things in life, along with Love and Kindness. i think they are also great words when it comes to raising children and we can only do our best.
Let's make life as simple as possible.

Above are a couple of Valentine cards I designed for her with her sheets.

More Cat Family..

This very modern miss scandalised the family by going into modelling and actually posing in her underwear. Whatever next! Still, can you wonder, her mother was quite a you know what.....

But this is the handsome Italian prince who fell for her charms and carried her off to live in luxury. So she didn't do too badly after all!

A very dull day today as I look out the window. I have to go out today, several errands to run. (Why do we say run when I can hardly walk? LOL!)
Hope you enjoy the Cats.

Whispering Hope..etc....

Whispering Hope is a very old song I used to sing with my mother and it was a great favourite of hers. So this is another collage I designed 'just for me'. LOL! Mostly 'found' images on Google.

It is a lovely morning here. Big blue sky after a bit of rain in the night.
I was woken up with a bit of arrythmia but after a cocktail of pills it settled down, thankfully.
I've been to Chapel this morning, doing my taxi service. After I took them home I went to see a very dear old friend who has just lost her husband. I've spoken to her several times on the phone but this was my first visit. I'm not sure how she's going to manage with no near family but several friends have been calling. So sad after a long, long life together..........

Here's another collage I made yesterday. I called it 'Puppet on a string', as that is what came to my mind when I saw her finished.

I hope dear friends you are having a great day.

Love and Hugs

Sunday Postcard Art..Violets..

The subject for SPA this week is violets. I've made a vintage looking card with the meaning of the flower name at the top.
Thank you for looking.xx

SoArtful Challenge..

This is one of the pictures SoArtful gave for their Challenge today, with a bluey/turquoise colourway.
I chose this one because she had a mystical quality and turned it into a magical picture. Well I hope you think so!!
I called it Rose Petals Falling.
Thank you for looking.xxx

'There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.'
These are familiar words from that classic tale 'The Wind in the Willows' by Kenneth Grahame.
Personally, I'd go even further and say I think there is absolutely nothing like 'messing about' anywhere, to recharge our batteries and give us a sense of well being.
Whether we choose to potter on the river, in our garden, take a walk or play with paper, glue and paint, we should never feel guilty about taking the time to slow down and simply enjoy life.
I know I spend hours just 'messing about' and I thoroughly enjoy it, don't you?

Friday 13 January 2012

Friday Family!..

Sally popped in with the children on Wednesday afternoon, so I thought I'd show you a couple of pics I took. There's Ashton having fun with an old wig. Skyela didn't want it on her head but she did agree to touch it! LOL! So there she is with a mouthful of M&M's.
The one of Sally with her grandbabies was taken at Christmas, also the dogs, Maddie and Libby, who are about full grown now. They are rascals!!

Digtalmania Challenge..

This week we are revisiting Anahata Katkin, so the challenge is to follow her style. So here are a couple of my collage, very loosely based on her style.
